Boris was interested in music since childhood, and later this hobby became the meaning of his life. After school, he entered the university, during his studies there he decided to create his own musical group called "Aquarium". His companion in such a difficult business was Anatoly Gunitsky, who was nicknamed "George" for his incredible resemblance to Harrison. At first the guys wrote compositions in English, but soon they decided that their songs would be in Russian only.

The first album of the guys called "The Temptation of the Holy Aquarium" was released by samizdat. It was fundamentally different from the work of other rock bands and made a real sensation among the small circle of those who managed to hear it.

Very soon two more members - Feinstein and Romanov - appeared in the group. At the same time, a theater circle is created at the university. "Aquariumists" join it, begin to write plays, participate in productions, devoting less and less time to music. The group is almost on the verge of disintegration. Among other things, the management of the university forbids rehearsals in its walls, and the leader of the "Aquarium" in general threatens to exclude from the number of students.

But Boris Grebenshchikov does not give up his ideas. Soon he gets acquainted with cello-playing Seva Gakkel and offers him to become a member of Aquarium. With his arrival the group began to form, the composition of which remained unchanged for 15 years. At the same time BG created hits, which Aquarium still performs today.

In his autobiography Boris notes that all concert activity of the band at that time was limited to apartment performances, i.e. performances at someone's house.

There was also no place to rehearse and publish songs. It was in such underground conditions that the first Akvarium albums were released. Since 1981 the situation has changed a little: Boris started to cooperate with the most famous studio of Andrei Tropillo. Here were recorded:

• "Blue Album";
• "Acoustics";
• "Triangle";
• "Tabu";
• "Silver Day".

In November 1980, the band decides to declare itself to the public. A bold performance at a rock festival in Georgia was a turning point in the creative biography of the collective, although it turned out to be quite a problem. It was after it that Grebenshchikov was expelled from the Komsomol and was left without a job. Nevertheless, "Aquarium" begins to gradually appear in various projects on television, actively performing concerts, gathering full venues. One by one Grebenshchikov's best albums are published, some of them in English. The musician writes compositions for movies and even tries his hand as an actor. At this time, he begins to be seriously interested in Buddhism, promoting universal values.

After a short break in the activity of the collective (in 1991-1992 the musician headed the group "BG-Band"), his compositions acquire a slightly different sound than in his youth. This leads to a new surge in the popularity of "Aquarium", and the musician himself brings well-deserved awards and prizes.

Personal life of the singer

The personal life of the artist is very rich. He was married several times, has two children.

The first wife of the musician was Natalia Kozlovskaya, with whom Boris lived for 4 years. From this marriage, the singer has a daughter Alice - a popular and talented actress. The second time Boris Grebenshchikov married the artist Lyudmila Shulgina. Soon the family had a baby boy, who was named Gleb. But this marriage also ended in divorce.

In 1991, the singer married the former wife of one of the members of "Aquarium" Irina Titova. The couple have no children in common.
