Boris Shcherbakov is a popular Soviet and Russian actor whose filmography includes more than 200 films. His fame peaked in the 80s and 90s, but even today he remains one of the most sought-after artists who continue to work actively in the entreprise, cinema and television.
Childhood and adolescence
The future celebrity was born in December 1949 in Leningrad. The boy's parents were simple people, far from the world of art: his father worked as a chauffeur, his mother was a transformer winder at a factory. Besides Boris, there were two other children in the family.
The Shcherbakovs lived in a small communal apartment on Vasilyevsky Island. The only advantage of their room was the windows, from which the Gulf of Finland was visible. As a child, Boris loved to watch the ships going over the horizon. At such moments, he dreamed that he would become a sailor and travel the world.
Everything changed in an instant. One day, representatives of Lenfilm appeared at the school where Shcherbakov studied, who were looking for a blond boy in the movie "Mandate". Boris was invited to audition and approved for the role of Glebka Prokhorov.
The teenager really enjoyed working on the set. The boy was also pleased with the incredible fee of 500 rubles at that time. But most importantly, he realized who he wants to become in the future.
After graduating from school, Boris tried to enroll in LGITMiK, but at the final stage of selection he was eliminated. The young man did not give up and still managed to become a student of the directing department of the Leningrad Institute of Culture. A year later, Shcherbakov learned that the famous actor Pavel Massalsky was taking a course at the Moscow Art Theater Studio School. Boris decided to try, but when he arrived in Moscow, it turned out that because of the troupe's tour, university exams began to be taken earlier.
Completely desperate, Shcherbakov burst into the classroom to the teachers and, having confused the surname and patronymic of the master, declared that he wanted to study with him. Slightly confused, Massalsky decided to listen to the young man separately from the others. Boris Shcherbakov was enrolled in the Moscow Art Theater Studio School.
It was not easy to study. During the day, the student learned the wisdom of the acting profession, and at night, in order to somehow live, he drove a washing machine along the platform of the metro station. He went to his hometown on the Neva River for the weekend. I had to travel like a rabbit, the janitor's salary was no longer enough for a ticket.
Creative career
Immediately after graduating from high school in 1972, the aspiring actor was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater. His debut on this stage was the role of Sanka in the production of "Steelworkers". Over 30 years of work, the artist has created many vivid images, becoming a true legend of the theater. Among the most striking performances with his participation:
"Valentine and Valentine";
"When you leave, look back";
"Cherry Orchard";
"Seagull".
At the same time as working here, Shcherbakov appeared on the stage of other theaters, but the main place in the actor's creative biography belonged to the Moscow Art Museum.
After the death of the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater Oleg Efremov, who considered Boris his favorite artist, everything changed. Oleg Tabakov, who replaced him, did not renew the contract with the actor. Shcherbakov was forced to leave his native theater and go on a free voyage. Currently, he prefers theatrical performances that allow him to play what he really likes.
Boris Shcherbakov's cinematic career was no less successful than his theatrical one. The actor began acting in films back in 1973, but all his roles were insignificant. In the early 80s, truly vivid works began to appear in the filmography of the artist: "The wedding day will have to be clarified", "Do not part with your loved ones", "The case in the 36-80 square", "Listen in compartments". It was they who made the actor incredibly popular and in demand. Apart from this list is the film "The Coast", for which Shcherbakov received the USSR State Prize.
In total, Boris Vasilyevich played more than 200 roles in films, continuing to act even after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The most effective actor, whom nature rewarded with an enviable appearance, turned out to be military and hero lovers. There are also a couple of clips of Lyubov Uspenskaya in his track record, where the actor played the role of the singer's lover.
In 2007, Shcherbakov tried himself as a director, shooting the film "Sappers" together with his son Vasily. In recent years, he has often been engaged in dubbing feature and animated films, participates in talk shows, and hosts programs on Channel One.
Personal life
Shcherbakov's personal life has been formed for a long time: he has been married to actress Tatyana Bronzova for more than 40 years.
They met while studying at the Moscow Art Theater Studio School. The girl was older, and she was already married. But that didn't stop Boris. He began to seek Tatiana's attention, and she reciprocated him. Soon the young people got married. Five years later, the couple had a son, Vasily. As a teenager, the boy was not going to follow in the footsteps of his star parents. After graduating from high school, he entered the Moscow State University Faculty of Law, but eventually realized that his chosen profession did not attract him. He is currently directing and acting in films.
Shcherbakov considers his wife to be a guardian angel. There were legends about the artist and his passions, but Tatiana forgave her husband's endless infidelities in order to save her family. In 2006, the woman was diagnosed with cancer. In this situation, Boris behaved like a real man. He supported his wife in every possible way. She did not manage to completely defeat the disease, but thanks to the efforts of her husband, Tatiana looks to the future with hope and optimism. Boris Shcherbakov himself continues to act in various projects and go on tour with theatrical performances.
