Ekaterina Shulman: the life story of a great political scientist and historian
Ekaterina Shulman is an outstanding Russian political scientist, historian and political commentator. Already since 2013, she has been an associate professor of political science and holds a PhD degree.
Ekaterina works at the Department of Public Administration and Public Policy at the prestigious Institute of Social Sciences of the Russian State Academy of Economics and Public Administration. Ekaterina Shulman was born on August 19, 1978 in Tula in the family of Olga and Mikhail Zaslavsky. The girl graduated from high school and college in her native city. The girl's youth was not spent in her hometown. At the age of 17, she moved to Canada, where she lived for a while and studied at college in Toronto. During this period, she actively studied English and foreign cultures.
After returning to Russia in 2001, Ekaterina graduated from the Academy of Economics and Public Administration as a political scientist, which determined her future career.

Ekaterina Shulman in her youth got a job in the general policy department of the administration of the city of Tula.
In 1999, the girl began her labor activity, she was appointed assistant to the deputy mayor. And she was also an expert in the Analytical Department of the Central Secretariat of the State Duma.
Until 2006, Ekaterina Shulman worked in the Russian legislative body. In 2007, she moved to the private sector and held a senior position in the consulting company PBN until 2011.
In 2013, she became a PhD candidate and lecturer at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of National Economy.

Personal life of the historian
Ekaterina Shulman's husband is Mikhail Shulman. He is a linguist, specializing in the works of Vladimir Nabokov. In politics does not participate in politics and prefers not to demonstrate his views.
Mikhail was the chairman of the HOA, which includes residents of Shulman's house. One of the neighbors occupied the attic without permission. As a result, the conflict led to legal proceedings.
First, the family's car was damaged and burned as a result of arson. Then, in 2012, Shulman was brutally beaten with a baseball bat at the entrance to his home. After the attack, Mikhail was in the hospital for a long time, and his wife did not leave him a step away. The incident became public when Shulman's blog published photos and a full account of the incident.
The spouses have three children - Olga, Maria and Yuri.
Ekaterina's current views
Shulman has always been passionate about the law-making process and the political regime in Russia.
Issues of citizens' rights and freedoms are very important to Ekaterina Mikhailovna, and she supports the idea of liberalizing legislation on rallies. Shulman launched this initiative at the Human Rights Council in an effort to prevent arbitrary arrests and detentions at rallies for spurious reasons.
After the incidents in Ukraine began, Shulman gave an interview to Ksenia Sobchak in her project, where she shared her opinion on these events and hypothesized what will happen next.
In 2022, Shulman continues to engage in activist activities and conducts her author programs and lectures. In April, she traveled to Germany as a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellow. According to the political scientist, the trip was purely business in nature. At the same time, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included Ekaterina in the list of "foreign agents" of the media.
