"Accident" (Neschastny Sluchay) is a band that has been imprinted in the Russian pop scene as a bright spot. They are not just performers, but a theatrical and musical group that has staged several famous performances, recorded countless hits, implemented many successful humorous TV projects, and given thousands of grandiose concerts not only in Russia but also abroad. They performed at various venues, gathered crowded stadiums, and were awarded the most prestigious musical and theatrical awards.
The period of formation of the group
The 80s were marked by the arrival of foreign music in the Soviet expanses. Many talented guys organized collectives, trying to imitate one or another foreign star. Moscow State University has become the "main forge" of such personnel. It was here in 1983 that the history of the band "Accident" began.
Alexey Kortnev and Valdis Pelsh were selected for the creative studio of the university. They sang their joint song "Chasing the Bison". Having won the first place, they began to perform at the studtheater, performing musical numbers. A little later, Pavel Mordyukov, Sergey Chekryzhov, Vadim Sorokin joined them. Being already a full-fledged band, they continued to storm the concert venues of the capital.
After several successful performances in the plays, they were invited on a big tour to America and Europe as part of the experimental cabaret "Blue Nights of the Cheka". Having gained a lot of experience, they returned to Russia and accepted two more musicians into their team – Andrei Guvakov and Dmitry Morozov.
The team has been thinking about the concept of their work for a long time. The original manner of performance, vivid stage images and songs in the genres of jazz fusion, indie pop, art rock and satire - the Russian audience has not seen this before. This is what caused the great interest of the public, which later turned into a huge national love.
Musical and theatrical career
"Accident" first appeared on the screen in 1988, when the band performed as part of the MSU team in KVN. Then the guys realized that they should pay attention to television. A year later, they "lit up" in the program "View", shot two videos for the songs "Radio" and "Leave me".
They were immediately invited to work for ATV. There they helped organize shows, wrote musical accompaniment, directed and even did advertising business. Some had their own projects. And they often performed their compositions. It was at that time that they had the idea to record their first full-fledged album. The team actively set to work.
The preparation for the presentation lasted about 5 years. All this time they have been painstakingly working on each song, experimenting with the arrangement, lyrics, and instruments. And as a result, in 1994 they presented their debut album "Trody Pludov" to the audience. Most of the songs instantly became hits and filled the top lines of the charts. The record received rave reviews from critics. Some even called it the best work of the entire existence of the team.
The band "Accident" enthusiastically set about creating the next record. And I approached this task very creatively. It was decided to record a radio concert with the addition of announcer's preliminaries. About 50 singers, musicians and even an orchestra were involved in this. The result was enchanting – Mein Lieber Tanz became a success. He brought "NS" to the ranks of the best representatives of the national stage.
And then there were endless concerts, recording new compositions, staging performances, organizing show programs, shooting video clips. Not a minute for your personal life! In 1997, the line-up was replaced, which greatly upset the fans. One of the founders and leaders Valdis Pelsh left the team. A year later Pavel Cheremisin took the place of the drummer. Guvakov and Mordyukov teamed up and created a new label Delicatessen.
In 1998, The Accident celebrated its 15th anniversary. A grand concert was given in a crowded hall of Moscow State University. A year later, the participants founded their own recording studio called the House of Composers on their own.
With the advent of the 2000s
The third album "Prunes and dried apricots" could not repeat the previous success. Then the musicians took a short break from their creative biography. There were rumors that they were even planning to disband the NS project. But a few successful concerts inspired me. The band continued their creative activity, but in a slightly different path: the musicians of the "Accident" plunged headlong into the theatrical art.
Collaboration with the satirical theater "Quartet I" radically changed the course of their career. In 2001, they helped in the preparation of the play "Radio Day". For the production, they recorded more than ten songs in a variety of genres. Two years later, another performance was released with their participation – "Election Day", where the songs of "NS" were also played. The audience liked these theatrical works. And in 2007-2008, both films were filmed.
The general interest in the "Accident" has faded a little. The album "Prime Numbers" did not bring much commercial success. This was followed by 4 years of work on a new record. It was presented only in 2008. In the same year, the 25th anniversary was celebrated with three grandiose concerts in the capital.
Over the past decade, the band has continued to write songs and replenish its discography with new works. She doesn't perform in public as often as many fans would like. Going on stage, "NS" charges every viewer with positivity and drive, just like thirty years ago. The team also continues to take an active part in theatrical life: in 2019, a musical performance "In the city of False Dmitrov" was created. The current line-up includes permanent soloist Alexey Kortnev, vocalist and saxophonist Pavel Mordyukov, vocalist and keyboardist Sergey Chekryzhov, vocalist and guitarist Dmitry Chuvlev, bassist Roman Mamaev, drummer Pavel Timofeev.
