"Zveri" (Zveri) - nine times winners of the title "Best Rock Band". For 19 years on stage, this band has proved many times that it has no equal. Performing in the genres of pop and rock, the guys collected and continue to collect entire stadiums and full concert halls. Their songs were on the first positions of absolutely all hit parades of the country. Live performances of the team are always driving, incendiary and unique. And tickets for concerts are sold out in minutes. For a long period of creative activity, they constantly changed and improved. "School rock", performed at the beginning of their career, reincarnated into lyrical rock ballads with a deep meaning and professional arrangement. And today their enthusiasm has not waned. The band regularly releases new songs, shoots music videos, writes soundtracks for movies.
History of creation and star cast
Roma Beast, and in real life Roman Bilyk - the founder of the group and its permanent leader. A young guy from Taganrog from childhood dreamed of being a musician. After school he entered a construction college. And after receiving his diploma, he set off to conquer the capital. But Moscow met him not too welcoming: first time the guy was interrupted by small part-time jobs, worked in a museum, was a nightclub security guard. All this time he never stopped looking for opportunities to make his way to the stage: he wrote songs, made acquaintances, tried to realize his potential.
In 2000 he met Alexander Voitinsky and presented his works to him. This meeting became a landmark for Roman. The compositions were liked by the producer, and soon it was decided to create a new project. Through the Internet they found other musicians. So the rock band "Zveri" was born.
The first composition of the group looked as follows:
- Roman Bilyk (Roma Zveri) - soloist, guitarist (acoustic, rhythm);
- Mikhail Kraev - drummer;
- Vladimir Horuzhiy - guitarist;
- Konstantin Labetsky - bassist;
- Kirill Antonenko - keyboardist.
Since 2003 Maxim Leonov, who sang backing vocals and played lead guitar, and since 2006 Alexey Lyubchik played bass, performed with them. In 2007 Vyacheslav Zarubov took the keys. The last replacement of members took place in 2016: Kirill Afonin (bass guitar), German "Albanets" Osipov (lead guitar) and Valentin Tarasov (drums) joined the band.
The band's creativity
After months of productive labor in the studio, the novice band was able to loudly declare itself. Their first work - the composition "For You" - became a real breakthrough. They entered the rotation of the best radio stations, and the clip began to spin on all music channels of the country. The "Beasts" simply fell in fame, and each new song became a real hit. The guys recorded their debut album called "Hunger" in cooperation with a solid label NavigatorRecords.
Already in the beginning of 2004 they went on a big tour in Russia and neighboring countries. Each of their concerts became a real event, because the band turned the audience on from the first notes and charged them with drive till the last song. The fans, in turn, knew all the hits by heart and accompanied the performances with choral singing. "Just So Strong Love" and "Rains-Pistols" became the business card of the "Beasts". These songs were placed on the top positions of the charts and were kept there for more than one week. The next album "Neighborhoods-Quarters" repeated the success of the first one. In the same year they starred in the movie "Words and Music" in a cameo role. In 2005 they participated in the selection for Eurovision, but did not qualify.
The third album "When we are together, nobody is cooler" was slightly different from the previous ones. The music became a bit "heavier", indie-rock motifs were traced. Critics' opinions differed: some accused the band of losing their individuality, others noted the high quality of the new sound. But despite this, the live concerts of the "Beasts" turned into a rousing performance and spectacular shows.
In 2007 there were rumors that Roma was going to start a solo career. The artist did not comment on these statements. A small pause in the creative biography of the collective ended in 2008. Then a new album "Further" was released, which was remembered by all such songs as "I'm with you", "You", "Brunettes and blondes", "Streetcar", "Talk", "Bye". Fans had a hope for the revival of the former "Beasts", and it was justified. Musicians with new strength plunged into the working process: recording songs, concerts, shooting clips.
In 2011 the discography was replenished with the record "Muses". It consisted of 12 compositions - both fresh and already known tracks. This album was the beginning of a new stage of the group's creativity. They changed the youth and teenage themes to a more mature and deep sound. In the same year they celebrated their anniversary. And they did it with a huge scope - they gave a grandiose concert in the Ice Palace and SC "Olympiysky".
The next record "One on One" was characterized by a ballad style. Melancholy character of compositions, deep lyrics and light aggression became the main concept of the renewed collective. Musicians tried to keep up with the times, experimented with the arrangement, searched for new selves. They recorded soundtracks to TV series and movies, shot clips. Roma tried out in the role of a producer.
The history of the group "Zveri" is full of bright moments. These are the upsurge of popularity, and periods of calm, and prestigious awards, and scandals, which were many on their way. Most often the cause of misunderstandings and disputes was their firm position to sing live. The collective does not accept phonograms, and when the situation obliged to perform under "plywood", the musicians sometimes did not restrain their discontent. They smashed guitars, showed the middle finger to the audience, demonstratively kept silent on the stage - such protest is peculiar to true rock performers. But even after such antics, fans did not love the "Beasts" less.
The band was criticized many times: they were accused of imitation, "uncertain" style of music, bad behavior on stage, youthful maximalism in the lyrics. Nevertheless, the band has a whole army of fans, which for the artists is the best assessment of creativity.
The last studio album "Fear No" was released in 2016. But the "Beasts" did not disintegrate, they simply changed the format and switched to the release of mini-albums. They regularly delight fans with their new compositions, often come to various TV shows and radio airs. About their personal lives, the band members talk reluctantly and do not bring it to the public. It is known only that Roman Bilyk is married to model Marina Koroleva and raises two daughters.
