Vladimir Etush (Vladimir Etush) - People's Artist of the Soviet Union, Russian theater actor. His name is the epitome of an era in Soviet cinema. Childhood and family
Vladimir Etush - by nationality a Jew, and by birth - a native Muscovite, was born on May 6, 1922. But officially the actor has existed since 1923. Parents enrolled the boy a year later, so that by the draft age he was stronger. His father owned a haberdashery production, his mother was engaged in housekeeping. The family was quite well-to-do.
Little Vova studied well, he had many friends, he got along well with teachers. Teachers never complained about Etush's behavior. In childhood, the boy showed a love for acting, played in school plays, attended art circles. His father instilled a love for the theater, took his son to various productions.
In 1938, the life of the Etush family changed. The father of the family was arrested for negative remarks about Stalin and anti-Soviet talk. As it later turned out, the accusation was false, and the denunciation was committed by neighbors. But the eldest Etush went to prison. His mother got a job as a cashier in a photo studio, the attitude to the boy at school changed. But soon the father was released. He returned home, received monetary compensation. The life of the family began to get better. Mom often pleased the boy with little surprises. And when it was necessary to make a choice - to buy a cake or go to the movies, to look at Charlie Chaplin, Etush always chose the second.
Youth years
After graduating from school, Vladimir decided that his vocation is directing. He wanted to enter GITIS, but failed the exam. However, the purposeful talented student was lucky to get into the theater environment. He was enrolled in the Shchukin School as a free student. But fate prepared Vladimir another unpleasant turn.
In 1941, the war began, and the young man at the age of 19 went to the front. He entered the courses of military interpreters, got into a rifle regiment, took part in the liberation of cities from German invaders. For his services at the front Etush was rewarded with the Order of the Red Star. The war for the young man ended in 1943, when Vladimir was wounded and after recovery demobilized.
The beginning of the creative path
In 1944 Etush returned to his studies. A year later he graduated and got a job. The creative path of the artist began with the Vakhtangov Theater. Among his early works:

- "The Trap."
In parallel with the game in the theater arena, Vladimir moonlights as a teacher's assistant at the Shchukinsky school. Episodic roles of comedy characters were replaced by complex characters, which Etush brilliantly embodied. In the mid-50s, he was the youngest teacher in the history of the university.
Playing on the stage of the theater, teaching at the institute, Vladimir combined with shooting in films. He was offered the role of comedy and witty characters. Filmography counts more than a dozen pictures. The first works: "Admiral Ushakov", "Gadfly", "Summer Vacation Time", "The Chairman".
When the people's fame came
In 1966, Vladimir Etush became a favorite of millions of TV viewers. His fame was brought to him by the role of Comrade Saakhov, which he played in the movie "The Caucasian Captive". Brezhnev himself called Etush a great actor at a personal meeting.
A successful career in the cinema and on the theater stage was not a reason to give up teaching. Etush became a professor after 19 years of work at the school, served as rector and artistic director. In 1971 Vladimir received the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR, and 13 years later - the USSR. By this time, the filmography numbered dozens of pictures. The most famous:

In 2002, Etush published a book with his memoirs "And I was there". Two years later came out the second part of "All that is gained...". Memoirs tell about the life of the great artist, his military experience and career.
Until the age of 90 Etush played on stage, although in the movie appeared rarely. He remained full of strength and energy. Only in 2019 from the repertoire of the theater removed a three-hour picture "Benefit" with his participation. The performer of the main role could not play back his hero because of ill health.
Personal life
In his personal life Etush was not immediately lucky. In 1945, Vladimir met his first wife. She became an actress of theater and cinema Ninel Myshkova. Etush was a graduate, and Ninel only entered the first course. The marriage did not last long and soon the couple broke up. They had no children.
Vladimir's second choice was the actress Elena Izmailova. They lived in a civil marriage for five years, but did not dare to legalize their relationship.
The second time Etush married the English teacher Nina Krainova. They lived together for 48 years. Nina gave Vladimir a daughter, who was born September 20, 1955. In 2000, Etush's favorite died of cancer, which she fought for a long time.
Two years later, Vladimir became infatuated with Elena Gorbunova, who was younger than him by 42 years. The age difference was not a hindrance to the marriage. Like Etush's second wife, Elena was a teacher of English.
On March 8, 2019, Vladimir Etush was hospitalized with a heart attack. The next day, the artist became on. He died at the 97th year of life. But his works preserve the memory of an outstanding actor.
