Presentation of S. Aleksashenko's book "Chance. America - Russia: Window of Opportunity" in Berlin

Why did the attempt at transformation in the 1990s fail, resulting in the establishment of a rigid authoritarian government in Russia? Renowned economist Sergei Aleksashenko continues his search for an answer to this question, which he pursued in his previous books - "The Battle for the Ruble", dedicated to the events of 1994-1998, and "Counterrevolution", where he analyzed the changes that occurred in Russia in 2000-2017, during the reign of Vladimir Putin.

Event description

On February 28, Echo will organize in Berlin the presentation of Sergei Aleksashenko's new book "Chance. America - Russia: Window of Opportunity.

Why was the attempt at transformation in the 1990s unsuccessful and resulted in the establishment of a rigid authoritarian government in Russia? Renowned economist Sergei Aleksashenko continues his search for an answer to this question, which he led in his previous books - "Battle for the Ruble", dedicated to the events of 1994-1998, and "Counterrevolution", where he analyzed the changes that occurred in Russia in 2000-2017, during the reign of Vladimir Putin.

This time, the author focuses on the period of 1990-1995, which largely determined the subsequent course of Russian and world history, and on a narrower question: why didn't Western countries, primarily the United States, come to Russia's aid and dare to involve it in their economic and political orbit, as in the case of Germany and Japan after the end of World War II?

The meeting is moderated by journalist Maxim Kurnikov.

At the presentation you can buy the book and sign it from the author.
