Event description

How our brain makes decisions

Scientific lecture for adults in Frankfurt

On March 8, Ilya Kolmanovsky will give a scientific lecture in Frankfurt about how the brain makes decisions, how it makes (or doesn't make) us aware of it - and whether we can intervene in this process.

The question of how our brains make decisions is one of the most important questions for both neuroscientists and you and me. Research shows that the brain always knows much more than we realize. It turns out that before any decision is made, the brain is bargaining between several different forces and each is trying to gain the upper hand.

During the lecture we will discuss many simple experiments that everyone can apply to themselves. What are the traps of modern reality that the brain is guaranteed to fall into? Why is it especially difficult to make decisions in an era of change and how to make the best decisions using the achievements of science? How to live with all this in your head?

Real science standup for adults from a famous podcaster! But you can take older teens along too, they'll appreciate it too!

Ilya Kolmanovsky is a PhD candidate in biology, science columnist, and author of the podcasts Naked Digger and One and a Half Digger. His job is to read scientific research every day, talk to scientists, and visit their labs (sometimes as a research volunteer). And then to put together offline meetings, discussions, and workshops to talk together about what the scientists have asked us to pass on and what we want to pass on to them in return.
