On 2 February, the famous soloist will present a programme of 24 works by Chopin, Shostakovich and Desyatnikov to the capital's residents

For her debut at the Berliner Philharmoniker, Polina Osetinskaya has decided to use all 24 tonalities available in nature and all the colours of her amazing musical talent. The pianist will present an unusual programme of 24, consisting of masterpieces by Frideric Chopin, Dmitri Shostakovich and Leonid Desyatnikov. Each of these composers has cycles of 24 works, following Johann Sebastian Bach, who used all 24 tonalities when writing his Well-Tempered Clavier in 1722. Polina Osetinskaya will perform 24 preludes by Dmitry Shostakovich, Bukovina Songs by Leonid Desyatnikov, who in his composition is orientated on Shostakovich's miniatures, and 4 mazurkas for piano (Op. 24) by Frideric Chopin. The rich genre palette and wide emotional range will demonstrate the outstanding abilities and special musicality of the celebrated pianist, who became famous as a child.

The name of Polina Osetinskaya is known to everyone interested in classical music and the development of the Russian piano school. The wunderkind girl, who had been making music since she was five years old, inspired and amazed audiences throughout the Soviet Union - she was given the largest philharmonic venues in the vast country. She gave her first concert at the age of six at the Vilnius Conservatoire in Lithuania, and at seven she entered the Central School of Music at the Moscow Conservatoire. Today her name on the playbill is a guarantee of a full house in any country. Audiences note her unconditional sense of dignity and proportion, her focus on content with virtuoso technique and, of course, her exquisite taste, which manifests itself in everything from her external image to the formation of the programme.

She is more than a pianist: she is a great musician with a vivid, recognisable handwriting, and she is also "the most stylish pianist of our time", as Polina Osetinskaya is often called. Today Polina performs in the world's finest halls, among them the Barbican Centre in London, the Vienna Philharmonic (Musikverein), the Moscow and St Petersburg Philharmonics and concert venues in Rome, Tokyo, Milan, Brussels and other cities. Her stage partners have included Maxim Vengerov, Julian Milkis, Anton Batagov and Alexander Knyazev, and she has worked with conductors such as Saulius Sondeckis, Vasily Sinaisky, Andrei Boreiko, Tugan Sokhiev, Laurent Petitgerard, Yann Pascal Tortelier and Theodore Kurentzis. After a successful debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2019, Polina was invited to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall, where the artist now performs every season. In Berlin, the pianist will be performing a major recital for the first time, which is sure to be one of the most significant musical events of this concert season.
